Davis County Commission: No More Taxes This Year

Taxes may not go up next year either, but you can bet your house that you'll pay more than ever on your property taxes when the one-time abatements run out.

Who are you talking to? Only a tiny portion of Davis County residents got the abatement and for the most part they're the people who haven't been paying their fair share of the tax burden for the past 5 or 6 years.

The only real answer to equalization of the tax burden is to get as much of the county re-assessed as possible for tax year 2008 while at the same time citizens try to keep our politicians from coming up with another excuse to raise taxes.

The abatement was a sham.

I'm talking to those who got an an abatement. They shouldn't mistake the abatement for anything permanent.

I agree with everything you've said beginning with your second paragraph.

Of course there will be "no new taxes" in 2008, it's an election year.

BTW Jeremy, My house appraised for $269,000.00 but Davis County tells me it's worth almost $400,000.00. That is money I just don't have.

Damn those tax and spend Democrats!

Whoops, I almost forgot, we don't elect Democrats in partisan races in Davis.
